About us
The Centre for Research in Political Theology (CRIPT) was founded by academics and MPhil/PhD research students in the School of Law. Our purpose is to develop and promote research into the origins of Western institutions, such as Christianity, throughout history and the ways they have influenced and informed politics, society and economics.
Aims and objectives
- Through conferences and publications, we publicise and promote research into the genesis of Western institutions and the conundrums of political theology.
- We offer an understanding of juridification as the core process of Western institutional history. With our central focus on the role of the law and the normative system, we seek to illuminate current issues relating to political theology and secularisation.
